What are Damon braces?
The Damon bracket utilizes (sliding door) technology known as "self ligation" that allows the wire to slide back and forth within the bracket. No elastic or steel ties are used with Damon brackets which is better for many reasons.
First is that it's much much cleaner!
Second, this technology creates far less friction which results in greater comfort and less pain. In addition, Damon braces often reduce both treatment time and the number of appointments usually needed with more traditional orthodontic brackets.
Due to the sliding door technology and high technology wires (nickel-titanium) many of our patients appointments are 10-12 weeks apart during the first 5-6 visits with Dr. Thomas. Towards the end of treatment, appointments are 4-6 weeks apart while focusing on perfecting your bite.
Instead of the average 24 - 30 appointments many offices take, our office typically finishes orthodontic treatment in 14 - 18 total office visits. This means fewer missed work days and fewer days missing school!!!
